Round Two of the Supreme Scrapbooking Tournament

Good Morning Scrappy Peeps!

Happy Valentines day to you all!

So it looks like I have made through to round two of the tournament. Thanks to my voters I did much better than I anticipated so once again a heartfelt and humble thank you for your belief in my work.

For this round of the tournament we were required to do another double page layout in a monochromatic scheme of our choosing. There could be NO BLACK....seriously that is my go to color....but no black it must be to qualify. Then they tossed in a minimum of ONE black and white photo (the only black allowed). In addition to all of that at least one photo must cross both pages.   I wasn't sure if it had to be the B&W but as luck would have it I was able to do two crossing the page.

Memories of a Puppy

So I chose browns as my Monochromatic color scheme. Which is right up my vintage style alley anyway.  So once again I scrapped from the stash only having to reprint the one puppy under the table photo to meet the B&W criteria.   The background paper is actually re-purposed cardstock from a stack of paper that got a wee bit soggy and warpped but you can hardly tell at all after I was done.   I used a lot of my Ranger distress inks on what started as Beige background. Frayed Burlap, Walnut, Vintage Photo and with my Copics I brought in the Dark Umbra for the writing.

I am a texture girl and I like lots of it in my work. So to do so and keep the Monchromatic theme was a bit of a challenge for me. However, the stash did not fail me . Twine, and wooden beads allowed me to create a creative dog collar for this little girl with the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Alpha Tiles were perfect with the assorted browns used. I matted MIA on a Chocolate brown scrap of cardstock to make them pop.

I like to make dog collars on my page but I didn't have the proper color buckle or leather so again out came the beads along with the Tim Holtz Bronze jump rings and Muse Tokens  - from which I chose Unique and Thoughts.....because the photos of my Son showing such tenderness and vulnerability with this puppy was unique and not something many people get to see. Thoughts because my head is filled with thoughts about how this poor little thing is doing and what sort of life did it end up living with its careless owners.

I found some material like stuff in my stash of scraps and I liked the airy feel it gave along with added texture. It is under both vertical photos on the edge of each page..

Well that is it for now. I will be back in a bit with my Card submission for round two as soon as I sort out in my head just what and how I am gonna do it. LOL
