What an Amazing Day

Well I listen to many people mention that they are still trying desperately to scrap book Xmas 2007 well I am still doing 2006 layouts. I wanted to share these few little gems with you. As they involved photos that for me captured the warmth and serenity of Christmas Eve / Christmas Day (4am) before the kids were up and before the chaos of cooking began.

I can't even begin to share with you how much I am looking forward to sharing these moments with Bob this year. Parent's you know what I mean, the stockings are stuffed, Santa has arrived and the presents neatly arranged. The room is tidied and ready for the laughter of children and the muffled squeals of delight from reserved young people that would really much prefer to yell but its just not cool. I am going today to look for that little piece of Mistletoe, and I can only hope that someone will catch Mommy kissing Santa Claus on digital film - now there is a scrap page. LOL LOL

Yesterday was a really awesome day filled with lots of wonderful and rare photographic opportunities and more importantly............... I had my camera to take advantage.

I love these chances and whats more I love the fun and laughter of family as we celebrated John's 19th birthday. My baby is growing up........ a year ago all the pleading and begging and bribery would not have worked to have him pose for a photo. So for those of you wanting to know what my Young Man Now looks like................ Here he is and I am so proud of him.

Yesterday, I was advised that there were some interesting things happening with a steam line at work. A small leak was letting steam escape and when it hit the -20C air it would explode like a fire work into bits of ice. I wish I could have captured the actual happening as it is so neat to watch. However I was able to capture the cool and amazing ice formations that resulted.

Good Morning = for Snowmen and Yeti

Good Morning My Friends and welcome to a balmy - 29C and throw in a little windchill factor and you have a perfect weather for Snowmen and Yeti. I wonder if anyone at work would mind if I stayed at home today and kept nice and warm......... Well I am going to have to apply my favourite saying to myself "Suck it up Buttercup"

In the mean time I have some the rest of my 12 cards of Christmas to share with you. Day 8 - The pop up card. I don't tend to do a lot of cute stamps like many of my fellow stampers check out the great snowman ones on Just Cre8. However, I thought this card turned out relatively well with the Stamping Up Coffee sets.

Day 9 - For those that you have looked not once or twice fear not it is a botched card techniqe. I tried to do the sand and emboss technique from Tim Holtz day 11 it was perfect until I glued the tiles to the card. So be warned do not glue your tiles that were sanded and embossed. Despite the botch on the technique it is still a cute card. Not sure you can see that there are tone on tone snowflakes on the white part of the card.

For Day 10 - Amanda challenged us to decorate the inside of our cards as well as the outside. I took some rusted metal snowflakes and turned them into my own masks with distress inks and Glimmer Mist. It is a subtle but effective technique. When I did the inside of the card I glimmer misted the inside and then used the snowflake as my embellishment.

Day 11 - is about using up your scraps, in an attempt to make my 500 cards for the troops I don't think this is going to be a challenge. So I have included a collection of cards that I have created using bits and pieces.

Day 12 - I loved the multiple mask and inking techniques that Tim Holtz used on his 12 tags of Christmas. So this card was inspired by this technique. I then used cuttlebug embossing folders on Grunge board with my Quixkutz; I used a combination of Tattered angels Glimmer Mist and Distress Inks and some copper pigment ink to get a elegant dimensional looking card.

Well thre you have it the 12 days of Cards for 2008. For those of you that will find the next few days filled with Christmas Chaos and no time to check on blogs -

From Our House to Yours - Merry Christmas and Happy New Years

Thought I had forgotten didn't you - LOL

Well life is a bit more crazy than usual as we increased our live in family by two - one human and more fuzzy face. So blogging and card making were reduced significantly. How ever I did want to share with you the cards that I did make as well as the name cards.

Tomorrow night is scrapping night so that should produce some serious items for you to view next week.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!

More To Share

Here is my card from the 4th day of Cards on Just Cre8. Looks nothing like the card that the lovely Caro designed but I needed to use up my stash so out came my Prima's in three different styles and sizes.Toss on some gold and snow and you have a vintage style version of the challenge.
This layout is not a great one..... I am not happy a 100% but I wanted to share with you this moment of fun and laughter that we shared. I was completely immersed in the shooting of the tree details for about the 20th tree. Then as I was panning and getting ready to capture the next one I saw this funny face peeking at me from behind the tree and yet another face laughing her socks off at him. I was so shocked that I started to laugh as I shot the photo - thus the blurry, dark photo. However of the 300 I shot in that two hours.........its the most precious one of all.

Thank you Tim and the Ali 's Dececmer Journal

So here are the pages from my holiday journal updated.

I also wanted to share my take on the Tim Holtz tag from day 3.

And day three of the 12 cards of Christmas from Just Cre8.

Imagine My Surprise!

It has now been 10 days since I started the Seasonal Clean and I am still not done. I have the bulk stuff sorted and we are now into the how to sort the itty bitty stuff. Should I sort by season, should it be by color, by style by brand...................my mind is goiing to explode!!!!!!!!!!!

So last night and tonight I took some much needed time to scrap with my broken finger and all. AAAAAHHHHHH did I forget to mention that breaking ones finger in three spots is not conducive to a lot of things let alone scrap booking? I think it would be okay if this larger than life chunk of metal wasn't forever in the way. However, let be known that despite all that one can scrap with some creative adaptations. So thank you Tim Holtz for once again doing the 12 Tags of christmas, his day one tag indpired this card and a layout that I will post tomorrow night. I would like to say that when one does not have the TH stamp collections at her disposal there are some wonderful clip arts out there that will allow you to mimic with Hybred ingenuity.

Just Cre8 is doing the 12 cards of Christmas and these next two were ones that I completed for Day one. Well tomorrow is going to be back to sorting and driving myself nuts but it will be a blessing when it is done.

Poor Robert............

So yesterday I started the seasonal clean of my office. Bob has certainly had his eyes opened as to how much stuff is kept in my office. LOL. I have a file box of goodies to share with fellow scrappers when next I go to my LSS, and it continues to grow.

Well its time to get back at it as I promised myself that it would be done before bedtime tomorrow. I took the before pictures and will share those and the after pictures when I am done.

Tomorrow is the FESTIVAL of Trees - Yippeee Yahooo!

Off I go see you all soon.

Wanted to share my holiday album

So here are a few of the pages from my holiday album. I have loved putting this together using up my stash, and even finally tackling the clear album fear that I had.... sheesh not nearly as intimidating as I thought.

There are several more pages to be built and of course the spine to doctor up with ribbons etc. I will share new pages as they are completed.

The inside cover bears then names of our family that will share in the joy of the holiday season.

This page lifts up and there is a letter to my family that expresses my hopes that this will be the beginning of a wonderful new tradition. Thanks to Ali Edwards for the concept of this mini album.

Anyone recognize these Seven Gypsey letters? They are several years old as I discovered them in Salt Lake. It feels good to use the stash.

I bought bags and bags of decorative buttons when they first came out had no idea what to do with them but I do now!
My lesson for 2008.......... Never say never. Who would have thought that Trisha Ladouceur could convert me to a flower child and lets not mention the use of Glimmer Mist.

Stickers may not be the hottest trend going at the moment but pull out your stash add some ink, bling a button or two and of course Glossy Accents and you have a great new embellishment.

Of course what is a book without some hand drawen doodles. Get out those pigment pens and create create create! Stamping, inking and drawing on those Primas makes each flower unique to your book and will reflect who you are.

Hope you are inspired to share your holiday traditions and activities with those you love.

SOOOOOO HERE WE ARE MID NOVEMBER!

Well here he is the mystery man that has been captivating my time, mind and attention for the past few months. He is really a sweetie and usually your standard non-conformist but I have noticed that he does conform when I ask him nicely - wink. Notice the suit and tie - doesn't he look so handsome.

Yes I know the "t" is missing and I know that it is in the office and so I refuse to make another because the "Season of Cleaning" is fast approaching and I know that it will surface.

I have been having a blast scrapping this past month as I worked on challenges for the Just Cre8 site. Well now that it is over I have some fun things to share with you.

A couple of weeks ago I provided some sneak peeks of a layout involving my favourite things about the holidays. So here is the whole layout. What I loved about doing this was the using up of lots and lots of my stash.
Then I had a blast making this for one of the other challenges.

Once again using up the stash that has been sitting in my office for a day or two - smirk. Everything is magnetic so that it can be traded out and made into a count down for other events.

I am working on a holiday season album - to celebrate the new beginning of our blended family so to speak - well as much as it can be with the kids now grown and on their own or living away from Saskatoon. They are still our kids and we will celebrate when they are here with us. However, production has been temporarily slowed with my broken finger - yeah here we go again for those of you who know my tendency to be accident prone.

Well its time to go and plan the "Season of Cleaning" have a good night everyone!

    Mojo and Passion

Wondering what Mojo and Passion have in common? Well a lot actually. Tonight I am posting to share with you the page that I made for MOJO GIRLZ. This is a relatively new sight that is going to focus on getting you to get in touch with your inner scrapper. This past months challenge was to scrap a word that was important to you. The idea was to scrap without a photo but those that felt they needed a photo were welcome to use a photo.

Sheryl is an amazing scrapper, I love her work its rich with texture and obscure scrapping items. She asked me to do this challenge and I will admit that I have been putting it off. Not because it was hard to scrap without photos but because I couldn't decide on one word that meant alot to me.

So I chose Passion:It covers so many aspects of my life and I don't even begin to cover them all in this layout. However, it will probably prompt a second page that explores the passionate nature of my personality.

Thankful for all my yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows

Happy Thanks giving to all of you that recognize Canadian Thanksgiving. Its been a great weekend filled with lots of work, fun, laughter, love and appreciation of each other.

Now I can't show you this whole layout until after the next round of voting at So you think you can scrap but I did want to show you that flowers are more than just the plain jane that you see in the stores. Mist them, fold them and attach. The swirls are hand drawen with glue and covered with MM sparkles. I can post the picture after you have stopped off and voted this coming week.

Well I just had to share this really precious photo from Charmaine and Dwayne's wedding. I had a great time shooting the photos. The flower girl was totally enamoured with Gizmo. A wonderful cream colored dog.........causing many adults to panic at the white fur on your chocolate brown gown. I captured this knowing I would be in hot water with those same adults but it was so very worth it to see you so happy. Besides a day without dog fur is like a day without sunshine.

I have another photo that I haven't scrapped yet but that made my heart melt when I first shot it and again when I saw it on the screen. A moment between father and son, there were many people milling about kids darting around but Russ and Curtis there was just them and the puzzle they were working on. Many people would wonder why this photo touches me. I would have loved for my son to have that same sort of moment with a man he could call Dad. In a few years Curtis won't necessairly remember this moment. However, when he is a man and see's this photo he will know how his Dad mad time just for him
when there was so much going on. I can hardly wait to see what Amanda does with photo.

    Should I or Shouldn't I

Found a cool scrapbooking competition called "So you think you can Scrap!" on the website Your Memories By Design. It is a six week competition with each week being a different challenge. There is a part of me that yearns to tackle this and there is the part of me that says "Are you flippin nuts girl?". I have also decided that I would like to start sharing tips and techniques with you. Again the one side saying WO HOOO Yeah Go for it! the other side saying Hello............. where are you going to find the time to do this.

So after talking to those that know me best, and listening to them tell me that I should find a better timing for this..................... I am going to do it. Now the first thing that I have to do is go and up load my favourite layout for the opening challenge........... not sure how I am supposed to pick just one.

I am also going to invite each of you to come to check out all the enteries for "So You Think You Can Scrap" Contest! Come and vote for your favorite submission in this week's round!

    What a Simply Wonderful Weekend

So here I am sitting and reflecting on what a marvelously simple weekend I have had.

I had no kids, no parents just me and a special friend and of course the furry canine combo. We didn't go anywhere do anything special just hung out and took it easy. That was a nice break in and of its self.

I took a handful of items from the new BASIC GREY LINE and said make layouts with these and only these things to use. So what happens when you do that? I get this crazy dino layout. I apologize for the less then stellar photo but I am busy trying out new techniques and tips to see how they pan out. I am thinking more practice will be in order for me lol.

I also took some classes from Caroline the co-owner of Maya Road this weekend and the simple projects were awesome. However, I will live those for my next posting. For today I just want to keep it simple.

Here is the one for the next wedding

Thought you might like to see the one for the wedding I have coming up. I got the glimmer mists out to alter the leaves into beautiful fall colors and to add the copper into the flowers.

Well off and running to finish a few things up so I can share with you my new experiences.

    Have a great weekend!
